Birthday #1

It is Stevan’s birthday today! He is turning some ambiguous age, 19 or 20 and there is some back story to it but every time I ask, he does a JPEG decreasing self-esteem trail-off. A bunch of us were meeting up at Town Hall at noon so I took the morning to wash my hair. I was not going to at first; my mother was brushing her hair so I thought I would take advantage of the situation. After a few very painful brushstrokes, she says, “Perhaps you should think about washing your hair. You don’t want to scare your friends.” Thanks, mother.

So there I was, doubled over the laundry sink with water infiltrating my ears. After watching me for a bit, my mother chips in, “You’re not doing it right.” All of a sudden, I grew a third hand and my hair and scalp were ravaged. Ridiculous amounts of hair were caught in the filter of the sink drain (which I cleaned, thank you very much. I am nothing but pedantic). There onwards, I blow-dried. (I wonder whether that should be blew-dry?) It turns out I have copious amounts of hair. Masses and masses despite of the masses which are slowly wafting to the ground. After half an hour of blow-drying (blowing-dry?), I swept the floor. The final contents of the floor debris contain more hair (and perhaps dust?) than other days when I sweep which rather worries me.

The bus transported me to the city quite early so I took the chance to go the uni to pick up some of today’s paper specifically for the birthday boy [GIFT ONE]. Today is mainly DA so I am not too sure how great that ‘gift’ is? After my return trip, I mistakenly identify a UNICEF man as Stevim. Never fear as I calmly walked past him and pretended I was waving to someone behind him. As usual, I was early so I took the time to read some of  Glen David Gold’s novel, . Really interesting book. A mixture of fact and fiction. Quite a lot of fancy words.

With the arrival of Stevan, Steviny, Stevaine and Stevim, we were still waiting for the others. Why can’t people get to places on time? It’s not really difficult. You wake up at the proper time and take the right transports. I went to Woolies to buy packets of gummy bears (Mmmm…). Stevaul was there by the time I finished my shopping expedition. We carried on to Events (where Stevale met up with us) to discover the earliest session (as of that moment) of was at 1:10 p.m. which was still an hour away. So we did what we do best: go hang out at a food court.
